THE DIRECTOR
 Victoria LeDega

Filmmaker Victoria LeDega, presents her first full length feature film Gokae. It is the embodiment of her dream. It is what some thought was LeDega's grandiose delusion made real. It is film art.

“I am very passionate about film and intend to dedicate my life and career to perfecting my art. I have always loved and been fascinated by film.

I have a special interest in Art Film. Unfortunately I was not exposed to Avant-Garde filmmaking until recently. Avant-Garde inspires me as a filmmaker because it uses unconventional techniques to portray a story, and I’ve tried to stay true to the Art Film spirit in Gokae. It is my first full length film, but it will not by any means be my last. The film is completely independent. I recruited my friends and college classmates as actors and cameramen. I went door to door to businesses to get permission for the location shots. The film was born of begging, borrowing, and getting people to believe in it and me. When I told one of the professors in the Georgia Tech Film Studies Department how the movie was made, I was told that it should have been impossible. Good thing that I didn’t know this going in.

I am truly thankful for the time, effort, and support that my volunteer actors, videographer, and numerous location establishments in Atlanta have given to Gokae. I had a lot of fun making the film. I also learned a lot while making the film. During production, I have known gut wrenching anxiety, poverty, and frustration; it was all worth it.  It’s wasn’t easy or possible to do this full length without mad love for it from the actors and cameraman. As a result, the out of pocket total production costs were less then $2,000!!! How did we pull it off? Gokae was birthed from the blood (sometimes literally), sweat, and tears of everyone who worked on the film. Thank you all.”
